Title: Legalizing Marijuana
Jc - August 28, 2007 02:40 AM (GMT)
Do you think marijuana should be legalized? Do you think it is as hazardous as Drinking, or do you think drinking poses more of a threat?
Top Kirby - August 28, 2007 02:45 AM (GMT)
Marijuana I hear can help in cases of Cancer when undergoing Chemo treatments. So there are some benefits to come from it.
It shouldn't be used in the "drug" like way it is normally.

...Marijuana does not cause cancer. It can't even cause death. You cannot die from cancer.
Drinking and smoking, I believe, are way more dangerous than marijuana. Marijuana doesn't even do anything. It just makes you happy. Drinking distorts your mind and causes liver cancer. Smoking cigarettes causes lung cancer.
So yeah. Legalize it. I'm sure corporations would make a lot of money if it did exist. The war on drugs never worked. Legalizing marijuana, while will not lower violent crimes, will keep those that just possess marijuana from going to jail. This would lower our number of inmates since jails are considered to be overfilled right now anyways.

well the jails don't want reduced population, because of the money, though I do agree that nonviolent offenders should not be doing hard time in federal/state jail.
Pot does more than make you happy for a couple hours, it makes you lethargic, it adversely affects memory, can make you irritable when you're not high, can cause obesity in some (munchies are bad for your waistline people) and a host of other issues.
With all that said, I do think Marijuana should be legal, because it is a lot less risky smoking a joint than it is drinking a 12 pack. How many traffic related deaths have you heard about involving pot lately? None? That's what I thought. Not to say you should get behind the wheel stoned, that's just plain dumb...
Marijuana is a natural plant, coming from our benevolent mother earth, for us to use as we will for what it can be used for. Thankfully, many state governments have seen that it can be a helpful thing to many, and has been legalized for medicinal use in many states. The next step though is to decriminalize it, because I believe if people could just get some joints at the convenience store and chill at home after work, we'd all be a little better off. Of course this will never happen, because we all know there will be dumb people on the roads killing people because they're too stoned to drive, then the'y end up ruining it for everybody.
STUPID IRRESPONSIBLE PEOPLE ARE THE BANE OF HUMANITY'S EXISTANCE!

I would not mind if they legalized marijuana. So long as their are some sort of restrictions in place. Like no smoking it in public places.
simplyatbliss - September 3, 2007 04:31 AM (GMT)
I think the least you would have to worry about is driving LaughingMan. There's no scientific proof that smoking marijuana causes poor driving.
MajesticMarmol - September 3, 2007 05:44 AM (GMT)
Honestly, what do we care what other people do? As long as it doesn't affect the person to where they'd want to hurt someone else, I say legalize it. It's just their fault that they hurt themselves. Same thing as not wearing a seatbelt. It's their fault, not America's.

I don't need scientific proof, I've been behind the wheel stoned, and it's comparable to being drunk behind the wheel, it does impair your ability to drive, even if only to a small degree, but even that can mean the difference between life and death.
simplyatbliss - September 5, 2007 12:12 AM (GMT)
See, I didn't get that effect when I drive... I felt fairly normal (though I only drove stoned once). I will, however, never drive drunk or even buzzed.
deadman - September 5, 2007 12:14 AM (GMT)
i've driven home stone MANY times and never once did i feel impaired
i never veered off the lane or swerved or had to slam breaks
Shiro Ookami - September 6, 2007 11:09 AM (GMT)
well it's legal in Holland, but not allowed to drive stoned (as it should be), in my experience I only really get thirsty nothing else (except for one blackout but that was probably bad weed)

I grow up in a Society where marijuana is an everyday thing. Some of my friends do it the often time, heck I've done it once or twice. (okay about 6) but that was in the past.
And honestly, a lot of people do it for the fact that they want to feel like rebels (thats one of the reasons that my friends do it) but I think they should legalize it, because the Government could make a lot of money..but then again, people wont feel like rebels and maybe move to other drugs...

My thoughts exactly.

Marjiuana should stay illegal.
Sure it maybe less lethal than other substances but the damage you could do to yourself or someone else under the influence of it is... eg: running someone over when you drive.
and by legallising it, most idiots will just use it to smoke even more of it because thats how braindead some of these imbeciles are.
And Marijuana doesn't make people happy, if they were happy they wouldn't need it.
Yes. Marijuana is given to cancer patients but only to those who are terminally ill as far as I know.

I say legalise it. It's not cocaine. It's not ecstacy. As far as I know, the effects of weed are on the same level as alcohol, or cigarettes. The only difference (I think) is that alcohol and nicotine have been socially acceptable drugs for generations.

All my friends smoke weed and I got nothing against smoking it from time to time, hell legalize marijuana.
and shrooms...
....and acid. ;)
Trigger - April 20, 2008 10:17 PM (GMT)
Legalize Marijuana. It's even less harmful than smoking and doesn't encourage violence like alcohol.
I mean, as long as it's controlled, like it is Holland, I really don't see the problem. Bringing joint able to buy from shops will stop people buying them from dealers where they've been tampered with.
Ryanplex - April 21, 2008 07:09 PM (GMT)
I think it should be legalized, the goverment shouldnt be able to tell you what drugs you put into your bodey, even if they are bad for your health lol. But ya we can smoke tobbaco, why not marijuana which is less addicting and slightly worse for you (pound per pound that is)? The way i see it if its less addicting then you smoke less of it (theroticly SP?) so you would be putting less crap in your bodey over your lifetime, if that made sense.
And drinking, i think, is less of a threat then marijuana, unless you get addicted to it whic it then could cause a problem. I personally dont know that many people who are addicted to it and i honestly cant see how anyone would get addicted to it unless they are really depressed or something and think drinking will help.......which is stupid lol.
