What is respect to you? How does one earn respect in your eyes? How does one lose your respect?

When I was at school, one of my teachers earned my respect by quoting Pink Floyd!

I respect everyone until they disrespect me or my friends, or do something really stupid.

Respect? My respect for a human is inversely proportionate to their stupidity. I say that a lot. If they change their stupidity, I change my respect for them. Simple as that.

I show everyone respect at first if they dont give it back then i will stop. If someone dont show me respect at first i wont give them the chance of showing respect to them.

I base respect on how people are with me and what they've done. Don't expect to have any respect if you've murdered/raped/ect - unless the situation was suitable.

when you break up with someone.. you should respect them enough to TELL THEM WHAT'S GOING ON...not run like a scared little kid.
even though 2 people break up, you can still respect that person and be their friend. but when you dont talk to them and tell them whats going on and dont have enough respect for me or my family then you lose mine. UGH

Respect something that most people will never give.

Don't be blinded if people are nice to you it's only because they don't want to hurt your damn feelings..

I respect everyone for who they are and what they do. I am not quick to judge just because they kill/ murder/ or like done something really dumb. And dont be like omg you like them people or make some sort of stupid comment after me just because you have nothing better to do then do your little mumble jumbo and s**t. Okay =].. I won't point any fingers.

It's all about reasons. I don't respect people who don't have any reason in what they are doing. Bad or good. They know what they are doing and they did it something that some of us can't do. Because we scared like that.. Haha..

I don't need to look down on people just because they kill/ murder / or done something bad, because who knows I might end up like them or something. And please don't act all innocent and s**t acting like you never done anyting wrong. It's people. People do stupid things. No one is perfect.

So yeah I respect everyong for what they do the choices they make and they way they live because hating is just a waste of time.

I respect individual opinions, but that doesn't mean I respect the person. In that sense, it must be earned and can be lost all too easily. If I don't respect you as a person, chances are I won't waste my time with you because more than likely, if I do, you're going to disprespect me, and I'm not the kind of person who will just sit and listen to that.

Why do people have "high" standards inorder to respect someone? Just because someone doesn't believe in what you believe, it won't like kill you?

Why put it so high?

I don't care if people disrespect me. I don't care if people say s**t or something. I don't mind being the talk of today. =] To me they just care but in a stupid way.

So why put the respect so high? Do you give high respect that is why you want the same amount of respect back? It's just BS.

I don't give a damn what people say about me, lie of truth. All I ask is for people to leave my loved ones out of it. You can trash me all you want, but to drag others into it for no reason is low. That's one of the only ways you'd ever lose my respect.

You earn respect by doing the right thing IMO. For me it's about being yourself, not putting on a front to be accepted by a person or a group of people. Just being genuine about yourself is what earns my respect.

It just requires a lot for me to truly respect you. It depends on how you carry yourself.

He is one of the people I have the most respect for. A very clever man, a few centuries ahead of his time....

Hitler would have earned my respect if he wasn't the one who started world war two and gave the order for the systematic slaughtering of 8 million people.

The man was brilliant and he MANAGED to pull Germany out of the depression.

If only he wasn't so damned crazy....
