Title: World Peace

A.FIRE.INSIDE - October 7, 2007 03:42 PM (GMT)
World peace - a world without war, where you can almost always feel safe. A dream, or is this achievable?

Post your opinions.

C.Cat - October 7, 2007 09:26 PM (GMT)
I used to wish for World Peace whenever I caught a wish seed. In reality, I don't think it's going to happen for a long time. Deep rooted conflicts can't be fixed overnight...

Exactly; countries have been fighting for years, for instance Lebinum and Israel, they arn't just going to stop fighting just like that now are they?

fearless freak - October 26, 2007 03:18 PM (GMT)
world peace ain't going to happen if anyone has seen Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz, they'll understand this

as long as mankind exists there will always be wars

fighting is in our blood

Stetekai - December 18, 2007 03:29 PM (GMT)
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Never.

World peace will only happen when either you or all your enemies are dead.

Doomsayer - December 18, 2007 03:37 PM (GMT)
War is as old as Mankind.

In my opinion, as long as we exist, World Peace will be unachievable.

Stetekai - December 18, 2007 03:50 PM (GMT)
agreed

Edel Weiss. - December 20, 2007 03:28 PM (GMT)
Not ever going to happen so stop dreaming.

Shiro Ookami - December 23, 2007 04:17 AM (GMT)
Technically speaking World Peace would only come into being if every act of violance doesn't happen anymore even going as far as the drunken bar brawl or something like that will never happen again. The only way this would happen if you got one person left.

Even a threat from outside wouldn't help, people would side again in for and against and start bashing each others brains in.

Humans aren't that different from animals when it comes to fighting: Territory for animals-fighting for you country and so on for Humans, Fighting for food and water for animals-Fighting for resources for Humans, Fighting to impress a possible mate-fighting out of jealousy or to impress somebody for Humans. The only difference is that animals of don't fight to hurt each other but just to scare an other away (with the same species that is not talking about carnivore eating something up) while humans most often fight to hurt.

In short Humans won't stop fighting each other it's in our nature

Chalchihuitlicue - December 23, 2007 04:49 AM (GMT)
I do not think world peace is plausible, or even possible. People are far too full of themselves and far too biased for peace on a universal scale to ever be achieved.

cornflakes - December 23, 2007 01:13 PM (GMT)
The human species --heck, all life advances on conflict. Conflict is in our very nature, the core of our individuality. Wars are just personal squabbles played out on a larger scale. Unless we all become mindless drones like in Huxley's Brave New World, wars will always be a part of life.

What we can do, though, is to reduce wars and come as close to complete world peace as we can, and in the process try to harness all this energy into productive and less destructive arenas-- like science or art, for example. That's why I still believe in the United Nations.

Mangaman - December 25, 2007 10:29 PM (GMT)
What I propose is the person who declares war must fight on the frontlines. No exceptions. If they truly believe someone should die for their beliefs, they should be the first ones.

fearless freak - December 25, 2007 10:30 PM (GMT)
world peace ain't gonna happen and we all know it, we've all said it in our own way

Doomsayer - December 25, 2007 10:33 PM (GMT)
Well Humans are animal, the only difference is we can reason and always find new ways to kill each other.

What would that solve, except for it being a waste of talent?

Womo123 - December 26, 2007 05:26 AM (GMT)
"Peace is not the absence of war, but the existence of stable communities."

Peace, in its purest form, is not achievable. Now of course, never say never, but let's be realistic rather than hopeful. Shall we? There will always be conflict. Think about it. How can you never offend someone? Your always going to offend someone, somehow, which is going to create conflict. Your always going to have disagreements. Surely, you can come close to it, but you cannot achieve it, by definition.

ShinLi - January 13, 2008 12:37 PM (GMT)
World peace will only be achieved if every single human being realises we live ALL on the SAME planet. And if you drop a nuke on a country, the effects won't be limited to borders. But even world leaders don't seem to realise this 'small' fact.

B RoCK - January 19, 2008 10:29 PM (GMT)
Nope, world peace? More like world unpeace. As long as there is more than one human on earth, conflict is always going to rise.

.....then again an alien invasion might stir things up a bit.

Stetekai - January 21, 2008 01:15 PM (GMT)
I suppose if Humanity had something else to vent it's rages on then yes, we'd have 'world peace' between humans, but we'd just be fighting something else so it's not really peace...

It'd make a nice change, headlines these days are all the damn same.

World Peace can only ever be truly accomplished individually, not as a collective form.

Trigger - February 21, 2008 08:17 PM (GMT)
Never. Humans are power hungry, and whether the biggest debate to cause wars [religion] was stopped - We'd still find something to fight over.

It's an endless cycle.

Nikita - March 11, 2008 06:20 AM (GMT)
It will never happen

Edel. - March 29, 2008 03:26 AM (GMT)
It's just something fake that we all look forward to so we have something to live by. It's better to know something fake then real.

It's easier to dream simple!

Vivian - April 1, 2008 11:05 PM (GMT)
I don't think it's achievable. Not to sound cynical but humans can be filled with a lot of hatred, and that hatred can be passed on to generations upon generations of people through breeding.

World peace is a nice idea, but it won't happen without violence...this is why we have wars because we can't settle things peacefully.

There's always going to be someone who doesn't want to be peaceful. However I am for making things a better place..but not for making everything perfect in the world because it's most likely impossible.

If it can work, by the time that happens I won't be alive to see it.

Edel. - April 2, 2008 01:42 AM (GMT)
It will never happened because where ever there is humans this such thing called world peace will never be.

Well actually declaring a war when you (the leader of a country or whatever) have to be in the frontlines would make declaring war a lot less "popular". I'm thinking a lot off wars would never have been fought if the King/Emperor/President/Whatever had to be in the frontlines

Saturday Saint - April 23, 2008 03:48 AM (GMT)
War is what happens when compromise fails. There are two forces. They can split what they want 50/50, and have peace. Or they can try all or nothing. World peace is achievable, but first we need to have a surplus of anything that anybody wants. This way, everybody can have what they want, and nobody has to fight to take something away from somebody else.

Koal - April 23, 2008 04:22 AM (GMT)
Arguments start over the most silly things. MURDER results from things that have little or no meaning at all. War is no exception to these things. Wars will continue so long as disagreements continue, and I can't see either ending in the near or even distant future.

Cory - May 11, 2008 10:30 AM (GMT)
World peace is certainly not possible. If it was, God would have to be involved.
