Fear and lack of understanding.
Damn me for not saying much...but too tired.
michaelp - October 23, 2007 10:08 PM (GMT)
Makes them feel better than another person.
sparklynshiney - October 24, 2007 03:00 PM (GMT)
you took the words right out of my mouth, michael p.
Zunder - October 26, 2007 02:59 PM (GMT)
I don't discriminate. I intimidate.
Stetekai - January 24, 2008 03:14 PM (GMT)
they fail to understand each other or make no attempt to.
some discriminate because they truly believe they have a right to.
and some people are just plain ignorant.
Doomsayer - January 24, 2008 06:13 PM (GMT)
That belief comes due to ignorance my friend :P
TwilightZekk - January 27, 2008 06:40 AM (GMT)
People discriminate to define themselves. "They are this" means "I am not this", "They are not that" means "I am that".
We discriminate unconsciously and consciously to define who we see ourselves as.

Exactly
If you're looking for examples, just look at the people today who fight against "the devil's games".
Before that, comic books.
And there are more examples.

You guys are all hitting it right on the money.
Another thing to mention is the reason why ALOT of it is going on is because of parents raising their children to be that way. Maybe that could count as racism as well, but i see it in the same light.

They can so they did.
They want to feel more important then whoever they are talking about. I mean everyone does it. Don't lie about it.
It's like saying why do people complain about it?
Without it, what would this world become like?
Spartan C99 - February 9, 2008 04:56 PM (GMT)
Because they are stupid, and they do it for fun most of the times.
Edel. - March 29, 2008 03:50 AM (GMT)
It's not out of stupidity. People usually do it to gain respect from someone esle who does do it. It people do it to kill time. Or make them feel better about themselves and forget about their problems. To laugh at someone else instead of themselves. To degrade someone is like a very good meal after sex.
It's there so why not use it to the fullest.
[$]Xarina - March 29, 2008 01:47 PM (GMT)
Ignorance and stupidity, they simply don't know better.
Trigger - March 29, 2008 02:11 PM (GMT)
Because it's funny?
I mean that in the least ignorant way possible. Jokes reguarding people's "down falls" or origins are usually quite amusing [says this from experience.]
Not that I'm a discriminating person, but still.

Or just trying to tick them off.. Insulting someone's life is enjoyable to some people because it makes them feel on top of the world. Whoopie.
=] Downgrading is such a great thing.

On the unconcious level? Well, the instant anybody sees another person, they form an opinion of them. Differences such as age, sex, race, and style are easy to identify. Everybody is a little judgemental, and judgement leads to discrimination. So everybody discriminates a little bit for that reason.
On the concious level, it could be ethnocentricity, in the case of ethnic discrimination. It could be that they just want somebody to pick on.
