Our nation was built on illegal immigration, period, end of story.
simplyatbliss - September 2, 2007 07:24 PM (GMT)
Agree with LaughingMan.
I guess the discussion really is over since there are no replies, lol.

What about the UK?
LaughingMan - September 2, 2007 11:19 PM (GMT)
Alright, what about the UK? is it a problem there?
simplyatbliss - September 3, 2007 04:33 AM (GMT)
I think there is with the Muslim population coming in. I really don't know since I live in the U.S. and CNN rarely ever talks about anything outside the U.S. and Iraq.

There's a lot of Polish immigrants coming in, I don't think they're a problem but some people think they're taking all the jobs

For the US i couldnt care less but for my country its a pain in the back side lol
simplyatbliss - September 4, 2007 05:13 AM (GMT)
What country is that Nikita?
LaughingMan - September 4, 2007 03:40 PM (GMT)
Well it seems that many countries are facing the exact same issues when it comes to immigration, just the names of the countries and the people immigrating are different.
simplyatbliss - September 4, 2007 03:45 PM (GMT)
Yeah, but it's not like its something new. People have been migrating illegally/legally/whatever for hundreds of years.
LaughingMan - September 4, 2007 03:54 PM (GMT)
True, people have gone from one place to another for a variety of reasons, from the hunter-gatherers until now. I think people just get uptight when they see a large influx of people coming into their home. It's almost like people are instinctually thinking "This is mine, I was here first, you should leave."

Only because some Brits are too damn lazy to get work... and if a job needs doing, why not let someone willing to do it take it?? In many cases the job the Poles and others are taking are the ones that no one else wants to do - just as in the 50s when we saw a large influx of Afro-Carribeans and Indians to do the jobs that many Brits felt were 'beneath them'.
Plus our (the UK) government sometimes makes it too easy to live off state handouts.
In any event, the UK (like the US) has been built on immigration... the only 'true' Brits are the original indigenous population of many thousands of years ago - our population has, over the years, been added to by the Celts, the Romans, Angles and Saxons, Vikings, Normans... with that mix, no one can really, truly say they are 'British'
Yuffie - September 30, 2007 11:20 PM (GMT)
Can I just say, DiC, that the minimum wage has been put there to stop Poles coming in and working for lower pay. It can be seen as unfair because they'll get hired simply because they work longer hours and don't expect much pay.
I suppose it could be looked at from both views. Because we get so many people coming from other countries, taking the job, it leaves very little selection for British folk. I've been in the posistion of trying to get a job and it's insanely hard. It's not a case of being lazy, it's a case of ten or twenty people all applying for the same job.
But then again, as DiC said, they do jobs, and from what I've seen do them well.
But it's kind've hard to enjoy this when like me, you're stuck jobless, trying to get places and unable too.

Britain get's more immigrants and it's too damn annoying, it encourages racism and I'm sick to death of them thinking 'hey let's go somewhere else and f**k up their society because our country sucks'.

I'm sure this topic was on illegal immigration? not immigration in general.
[talking about the UK]
Anyway - i have no problem with immigration.
I have a problem with illegal immigration. The people that legally have no right to even be in the country, let alone work here. Fair enough they fill all the jobs that Brits don't want - but then what about the Brits that do want the jobs but can't get them because illegals have already filled the vacancies just so the company can pay minimum wage?
Also i think that if you come to this country - or immigration into ANY country - you should follow that countries laws, as many immigrants tend to believe they can have things their own way just because they orriginally are from another country with different laws.
For example - i heard the other day that muslims are trying to make it illegal to drink alcohol or smoke in the UK because it is against THEIR religion.
That would be like making contraception illegal because catholics are against it.
If you immigrate to a multi-cultural country you should be prepared to face facts that people WILL have different beliefs to you. And you should accept that.
demon_of_darkness - November 4, 2007 12:00 PM (GMT)
Well both types

I wouldn't doubt that statement. :) I don't think it will pass, but the key words there were "Trying" and "are" :P.
Illegal immigration... well I honestly I don't really mind it. Being said I don't pay taxes. >.<
demon_of_darkness - November 12, 2007 06:49 PM (GMT)

Stetekai - January 24, 2008 03:29 PM (GMT)
I don't mind people immegrating to the UK but I'd love to torch those who truly abuse the system, thats seriously breaching a country's trust.
