Title: Problem with parents
Elindor - January 1, 2008 09:39 AM (GMT)
All the kids i've known have experienced this. Well, this is one thing in which parents never seem to agree. He's a conversation.
Mom:Look at your marks! I'm ashamed of you. It's all because you spend all your time on your stupid forums
Boy:But mom i swear Internet has nothing to do with this
Mom:Shut up! No more Internet
Well folks, i ask you, how come the fact that we spend a maximum of 1 or 2 hours on the Internet disturb our studies? There are addicts true, but a majority of us just come to places like this to engage ourselves, have fun, relax and make friends. But parents seem to think we meet bad influences there. Why? :(
B RoCK - January 1, 2008 03:52 PM (GMT)
I'm guessing maybe because the technology is still new to them? Like whenever my parents go on the internet all they do is like check the email and nothing else. While maybe I am able to do all sorts of things the internet is still alien to my parents.
Animeswordmaster - January 1, 2008 06:09 PM (GMT)
Okay I'm an expert on this.
I'm not even allowed to have an e-mail, IM people, or really get on forums.
They think that is all we do because whenever they are around, that's what they always see you do. This happens a lot to me. I'll be doing my homework and I just want to take a break so I get on forums. 2 minutes later, my mom yells at me "GET OFF YOUR GRADES AREN'T GOOD ENOUGH" (***note: I make straight A's in EVERYTHING and still get yelled at lmao.) Basically, they do not SEE us do homework, but instead catch us when we aren't. They also are sometimes illiterate in computer so they don't want their children to know more than them.
Misha-san - January 1, 2008 06:12 PM (GMT)
Yeah, my Dad's like that, he dosen't like me on the Computer at all.......
Syarith - January 1, 2008 06:51 PM (GMT)
Hahahaha.
My parents don't care. They see me doing my homework and stuff and I turn it in and whatnot, so then I just get on the computer until my parents or siblings need it. xD
[$]Xarina - January 1, 2008 07:33 PM (GMT)
I don't have that problem, I can do whatever I want if I fail it's my responsibility.
Them telling me I can't do something I want will just turn in to a big argument which I almost always win, cos basically I know my rights and I tell them what those rights are. If they want to change our country laws and get into politics that would be up to them.
Toast - January 1, 2008 08:05 PM (GMT)
i spend 3 yo 4 hours sometimes more on the computer a day and i have a GPA of 4.0
Pugus Doggers - January 1, 2008 11:53 PM (GMT)
Even when I'm not on the computer my grades are still low :D
Seriously, I get yelled at every night for being on the computer. Makes sense I guess. I spend 5 hours every night just net surfing >_>
Edel Weiss. - January 2, 2008 03:11 AM (GMT)
I guess you kids won't understand it.
it is the internet. If you spend countless of hours on the internet, do you think you will be able to do your homework? Omg what is that homework?..... What you didnt know that you ahve homework. Of course it's the parents right to take it because it's what they see. It's not like you are doing anything to improve your grade.
Hello people. Your right? What right? Since when did kids have right?
I mean you live in your parents house, eating your parents food and using your parents internet, the only right you will have is when you get a job and help them pay for the bills. It's when you have your own since of responlilablilty. But you guys dont because of your poor grades at school. School is a responlilsblilty. Also grammer too xD
You ahve a roof ontop of your head, I guess you kids take everything for granted you wouldn't know how to live if your parents arent there
But my kids, are you still kids, all you kids can do is think about yourself. Because it's a kids way of thinking. Everyone goes through it once in their life.
Get real kids and get the picture. Your parents ahve every right to take whatever away from you, because hello it's not like you deserve to get some stuff. Things dont come for free, at least work for it. Whoops.. wait, or ya'll just spoiled kids. Sadly. Get real everything is money, nothing is free. Grow up and stop complainning and the only way you could actually put your feet into their shoes is when you have kids of you own.
It's a pity that so many kids hate their parents or dislike whatever they are doing. It's so kidish.
Elindor - January 2, 2008 02:49 PM (GMT)
As a parent, your comments are appreciated. And another hello! Internet is free where i come from.
Another hello!I get either A+ or A if that isn't good enough then i can die.
Third hello! Parents should let their children get recreation, if they study, and we do!
Edel Weiss. - January 2, 2008 04:01 PM (GMT)
But what if your parents doesnt even see that you do?
Why not try to make your parents see that you do instead of letting them see the other stuff that you do?
Marv - January 2, 2008 05:06 PM (GMT)
I wouldn't say I have bad grades and I use the computer a lot. My parents know I don't get bad grades, and they don't care about the grades. I'm the one that has to tell them about the grades, because they never ask about them.
They're main problem with too much computer is that I spend too much time inside, and they're right about that.
Belvera - January 3, 2008 01:35 AM (GMT)
My grades arn't that bad. I get B's, C's and sometimes an A. But they get on my case about spending too much time on-line and not going out. They want me to get out more so we do get into arguments about that..
Red Phazon - January 3, 2008 02:46 AM (GMT)
My parents allow me to spent countless hours on the computer and the internet, though I don't spend all my computer time on the internet. They know I keep my grades up and work hard in school. I'm actually more productive on a computer than anywhere else, besides school, designing games, sequencing midis, learning, etc. So, my parents are very generous and understanding I'll say. I'm the one that gets frustrated with myself for being lazy.

Poptart - January 4, 2008 01:24 PM (GMT)
I spend countless hours on the internet and, at my moms house and not at my dads only becuase the computer is downstairs, countless hours in my room. My grades are average, my parents know i can do better, in fact the first quarter of this year i got almost all A's and B's and got $200 out of it (which i blew that weekend on japanese videogames XD). I wouldn't say that my cuontless hours on the internet or my countless hours playing video games is the cause of my grades, i would say its my inability to get myself to do it. To me homework is either really easy and seemingly pointless to do or really complicated and i don't get how to do it (or i do as much as i can). I'm a smart kid and school/homework bores me becuase its always the same, thats why i spend hours on the internet and videogames because its always different. If anything is to blame for my grades it isn't the internet, its not video games, its my lazyness.

Well my parents both do bussiness and come home around nine or ten PM. It ainn't my fault i couldn't make my homework stretch till then.
Meteor - January 4, 2008 02:36 PM (GMT)
Well. It's only my mom who doesn't understand technology that well, whereas my dad uses computers. So I don't run into this problem quite often.

Put it that way and what you said works for almost anyone. :P
Edel. - January 4, 2008 11:37 PM (GMT)
But it's not the parents fault for making problems. The problem has someone who like done it for it to happen. Unless your parents are parents who fuss and like to make an arguement.
Elindor - January 6, 2008 09:19 AM (GMT)
Wrong again. Most parets get a wrong impression although the fact is that they are not home a lot.

(99% of) The internet is porn. - Porn makes you stupid. Your parents assume you are secretly visiting porn sites and that is effecting your brain.
Of course, it all depends on how your parents comprehend the character you display.
If you are productive, obedient, brilliant and virtuous, they will allow you to spend as much time as you want on the computer.
On the other hand, if you are the opposite, they will judge it to be probable you are using the internet for the wrong purposes and therefore assume the internet is effecting your studies. Regardless of your grades.
That said, I answered your question.
For me, a topic like this is pointless. I merely obey every command giving by my parents, as every child should.
Compared to the orders given by your parents, all emotions are pointless. If you cannot set aside your desires to follow an order, then you are weak.
Let me tell you why you're weak...
It's because your heart is lacking...
...Lacking in Superiority...

About porn.....the guys watch it....you must have watched it.....everyone watches it.....everyone does sex.....there's nothing stupid about it.
Evil Dark Knight - January 6, 2008 05:13 PM (GMT)
Now we know why your parents try to keep you off the internet.

Didnt I just said that in my last post.
Like when parents like to make s fuss over stuff. O.o..
I mean when your parents come home do you inform them that you are done wtih your homework, to let them stop thinking that you spent countless of hours on the computer.
I guess no onw does do that, because no one sees the point in it, but most will just see that is pointless.
I guess kids and parents don't have enough communication here and there.

There is nothing wrong watching porn. I mean I think people watch it to learn new things from it.
Everyone watched it once in their lifetime. Don't try to deny. :P If you are online and posting in forums, that mean you had watched some porn now and then.
Don't worry even girls watch porn..

Porn = People farking
By that definition, nope! I haven't watched porn. And I don't really understand why some people like it so much.

OMG you are not a horny bastard! Congrats man!
Some people just like it. and I dont know why you would aska question like that because some people can never admit to why they watch it.
I watch it because i am a horny bastard. =D
Elindor - January 26, 2008 09:48 AM (GMT)
I never said i watch it. I'm just saying there's nothing wrong about people who want to watch.

Happened recently to me too Elindor.
During my Christmas exams, I failed Maths and Irish.
Mom: We got your report, some of your results are dissapointing, I think you should spend less time playing videogames and going on the internet and more time studying.
Me: Thats not fair, the computer has nothing to do with it, the test was *beeping* hard.
And so on, I won in the end but now I have to do an extra half hour of study. :eh
Elindor - January 26, 2008 12:12 PM (GMT)
For me it's now four hours of intensive study an half an hour on the Internet. Well, an hour on the Internet.
Mana - February 13, 2008 06:26 PM (GMT)
When I was in school one of the first questions, other than How was your day?, was that if we had homework or not. If we did, she told us to go get it done. . . if not, well, we had chores to do. This worked fine during elementary and middle school, but a lot of my homework after that was based on things that I had to research on the internet - so I had to wait until I had a chance on the computer (in a household of seven people, two computers) or I just did it at school. And really, I tried to do most of my homework at school (when allowed and when I finished the coursework) so I was free when I got home.
Unfortunately, I still didn't do very well in Math subjects, Chemistry, and Latin. It wasn't because I wasn't doing the homework, it was because I just couldn't get my mind around it. Still, I got Bs and Cs - sometimes an A! The proof behind the fact that I wasn't understanding any of it (and I was trying to get help, mind you) was that I had straight As in ALL of my other classes. And after while, when the Bs and Cs became consistent - my parents understood that it just wasn't my strong point.
But I got yelled at for being on the computer and playing video games due to other things. And when I left home, my parents did apologize to me that they knew they were being too hard on me. Thats an entirely different story. =)
queenzelda - February 21, 2008 03:26 PM (GMT)
I don't know about this question. I mean I didn't really grow up w/ the internet & I'm barely 25yrs old. Yet I sound like I'm ancient. :XD: It's funny that I have more problems w/ my mother in law not liking that I DO get online a lot.. Then my folks not seeming to care that I AM online a lot.
What ever ^.^
LadyKnuckles - February 22, 2008 05:32 AM (GMT)
Because of the internet, I have no done any homework.
