Title: Rule 7 Query
Trulyana - February 27, 2008 12:01 PM (GMT)
Just wanted to ask why is it only fair for forums who have at least 500 posts on their forum, to advertise?

Moved to Advisement Division.
I agree with you, we are thinking of changing the advertising section, not only to forums, to profiles and others too! So this could be another rule to edit.

I can answer that. Reason being is this. Why would you advertise your forum that had only that many posts to a community that has worked hard? There are other advertisement forums out there, as well as we do have other services that can boosst your activity besides that. Button Advertisement is another one.

This is a great idea!
And besides... my forum doesn't even have 100 posts. Advertisement was one of the biggest reasons I joined in the first place, and I can't even do that...

There shouldn't be any difference between small forums and large ones. Each person works hard on their own forum, regardless of the quantity of posts their forum offers.

I agree,If every forum CL advertised on had the 500 or more post then you wouldent be as big.Its the quality of the forum that should matter not the post count or any thing else.I had a forum with 19 members but alot of post.Forums with these types of rules i avoided because their was nothing i could. But my forum was quality more than quanity.I didnt want a billion nonactive members i wanted good active members. So why inforce a rule that kills smaller boards?

You need to think before you speak next time Taliz. That annoys me.
And to answer your question, we aren't pentaliizing anyone. 500 posts isn't a whole lot. Hell, you get that just setting up a board with posts and a few members that you can get to join. Remember, the quality thing that you state? Well, welcome to quality.

On another board we devided boards based on thier size and allowed anyone to advertise, we just had to perodicly go through and cleam out dead boards which wasnt too hard. I think we should just do that and forget about how many posts the board have because for one the advertisments would be organized and then everyone could participate in it.
On the other hand though, like sheyenne pointed out, its not terraibly hard to get 500 posts and 25 members and we also offer other advertising services to help you out besides the yellow pages.
I personally like the open way of doing things but both options have good and bad points. One would have to ask though why does each advertising service have diffrent post and member requirments? Shouldnt they all have the same requrments? Or iam i just not seeing something? lol
