Do you think it's acceptable for parents to use corporal punishment as a means of discipline? Why/why not?

Depends.

A simple slap on the cheek? Never hurt nobody.
A spanking? Never hurt nobody.

The above two have been done for decades. I don't recall any lasting negative effects from corporal punishments like that.

However. A torcher session that leaves the kid in the ER, or worse? That's not acceptable at all.
