Title: Revenge
AngelKing - September 4, 2007 02:41 AM (GMT)
Do you believe that people have the right to take revenge? No matter how minor or major the action can be.
LaughingMan - September 4, 2007 02:51 AM (GMT)
Revenge can be a nasty thing, making you do things that you wouldn't normally do, because when in your right mind, you would know it's wrong. There's plenty of ways to get revenge against someone without going all "eye for an eye" about it, you just have to be smart about it, and not lose your cool.
It's hard to say wether or not revenge is right, there's plenty of good arguments for and against it.

I think it depends on why you are looking for revenge, and what you plan to do.
Syarith - September 4, 2007 04:21 AM (GMT)
"Revenge is sweet"
^Some believe that to be true, but most people only want revenge for stupid things (i.e. If someone hurts you you want to hurt them back as revenge; If someone has done something mean to you you hold a grudge and want revenge). Clearly, revenge can never be wanted for something smart.

I just think revenge or wanting revenge can have some serious consequences never intended, and someone wishing to act against another should think carefully about what they want to do and if it's really worth it.
Shiro Ookami - September 6, 2007 11:39 AM (GMT)
Well you can take revenge if you want as long as you face the consequences. People should be equally punished for something they do out of revenge as they would be for "random" offenses, no matter what the victim did to somebody. The justice system might have it's flaws but protects the society from total anarchy.
As for me personal taking revenge, not much chance don't really care much for other people or what they say do to me so can't imagine much situations where I would take revenge except in some cases (was ready to call all my friends once and teach somebody a lesson and most would have come, no I won't tell the how what where)
Bluezone777 - September 6, 2007 07:44 PM (GMT)
I am highly against it as hatred towards another person is self destructive and while you may commit your act of revenge against them well the hatred that is born from that desire to get revenge never goes away or at least not very easily and ends up with you doing more harm to yourself then to the person you got revenge.
so in short... "forgive but never forget" is the way to go IMO.

I believe revenge is necessary. The punishment must fir the crime. If someone murders someone, than they deserve to be killed.
simplyatbliss - September 9, 2007 05:11 PM (GMT)
I'm not for capital punishment. It doesn't solve anything.

No, especially if the action involves breaking the law. That said I also think revenge should be something assessed, perhaps judged by each separate instance in which it happens. Certainly easier than done.
A.FIRE.INSIDE - September 27, 2007 10:05 PM (GMT)
It'd be arrogant of me to say no, as I have taken vengence when people did something degrading or hurtful to me. But, I think it's best off if things be left as they are.

That's kind of two different concepts: revenge and justice. I understand what you're saying, but sometimes revenge is taken upon those outside of the law and sometimes they end up breaking it as well.

Yes, revenge and justice are two very similar, yet very different things.

If someone kills a member of my family I will kill them.
froggyboy604 - November 16, 2007 07:43 AM (GMT)
Revenge is an evil thing. Nobody wins. What will you gain from revenge? Probably you gain your foolish pride back, or some money if you steal from them because they steal from you.
demon_of_darkness - November 16, 2007 08:03 PM (GMT)
Revenage is horrible, and captial punishment is revenage NOT justice.
OCD3 - November 22, 2007 06:57 PM (GMT)
revenge is pretty much pointless.
nature keeps thing in balance, harm that someone does to you will always come back at them, no point in doing it yourself.
however if you feel so inclined to do so, you run the risk of causing more harm than given, which the product will come back at you
X-Evolution - November 24, 2007 02:24 AM (GMT)
I think that revenge is one of those things we know we shouldn't do but do it anyway. Revenge can lead to nasty outcomes, whether it be emotional or physical., plus when you take revenge you don't think clearly not thinking of the consiquences.

Sometimes revenge can be sweet and such a relief.Depending on what it is. Revenge can be good but it can also be bad. A good, sweet revenge can be running away from home after you told your parents to qiut smokining, alcohol or using drugs 1000 times and still dont listen to you (you told them 1000 times that its bad for you). I know that running away from home is NOT the best solution, but its the most sweetest revenge and the parents get what they deserve yes a payback. Or if someone says that you have the "ugliest" legs on the planet, you can build /train them up so you have the most "beautiful" legs in the world. Or revenge can also be sweet when you had a crush on someone (for at least 5 years) and that person is with some else and you want to destroy their relationship, just to have that person by yourself. Well I wouldnt destroy any one´s relationship. But its I think its a sweet revenge once youve done that.

Revenge like that can't be good Garethlover, so many bad things can happen from running away from home. and no sain or nice person would ever try to break people up for selfish reasons :huh.
Sure revenge can be good in a small extent but your way IMO is to mean.

Well as I said I wouldnt do that but some ppl would do whatever they can to destroy a reletionship. At the moment its sweet and its such a relief to do that because you love/have a CRUSH on that person. And you want him/her by yourself.
Stetekai - December 18, 2007 02:32 PM (GMT)
It depends on the crime/insult done against me. example:
if someone attacked me but I recover with nothing to severe done to me then i'd just think to myself that my attacker was just some imbecile and just let the matter drop and forget about it.
HOWEVER
If a friend or some i knew well was attacked, maybe even killed.
Then Revenge is all that matters.
people say that "an eye for an eye" solves nothing.... but say I killed someone you REALLY cared about and you had the oppotunity to kill me... would you honestly let me go?
Sure God may pass final judgement and some would let me go.
But for those with out gods, there would be no justice, just them.
