xBifnepasu - September 15, 2007 01:31 AM (GMT)
Well. :)

Evil Candybag - September 15, 2007 01:44 AM (GMT)
Atheist.

RedSox9 - September 15, 2007 02:20 AM (GMT)
Why is Chrisitianity all the way near the bottom? I thought you forgot to add it, but after checking you did.

Dude, no matter how I did it there has to be religions somewhere near the bottom.
I fail to see the big deal or the basis of the comment.

I'm a protestant. That's all there is to it for me!

simplyatbliss - September 15, 2007 03:30 AM (GMT)
Atheist

It's not a religion but whatever.

Marasai - September 15, 2007 05:14 AM (GMT)
I'm like... Nothing. But ooo! Jediism! If they would carry lightsabers and learn the ways of the force, I would so join! lol

Ghost - September 15, 2007 05:52 AM (GMT)
I'm sorry, but there is NO such thing as not having a Religion. e_e;

And if you say there is. Think again. Or look it up.

I'm Atheist btw, since I was 6. Not like some people. They become Atheist since they were teens. Only because they don't wanna go to chruch. Lazy bastards. >_>

Yes, it is.

That would be a non-theist. It's an option in this poll.
This argument could go round and round in circles. :P

I somehow doubt that you could consciously decide to be Atheist at age six on your own.
Did you parents turn Atheist or something?
Were you brought up in a religious household?
Do you really think at age six you had the mental capacity to go against what your family did?
Did you object from observing religious practice?

I'm just saying this because you have implied that before six you weren't an Atheist.

That's just stupid.
Who are you to question the beliefs of others?
Not going to Church doesn't make someone an Atheist. Church is a strictly Christian thing first of all...Not everyone is Christian.
Also, I doubt you consciously decided to become an Atheist at age six. Either you were influenced...Or it was your first memory of being an Atheist.

simplyatbliss - September 15, 2007 04:50 PM (GMT)
Okay, how is atheism a religion?

a- is Greek for "the lack of" or "no"

-theism is the "belief in a deity"

So atheism is the "lack of belief in a deity" or "no belief in a deity".

I mean, we're all atheists. I just chose to not believe in one more deity than most people on this planet.

If you don't accept you need to believe in a deity to have a religon, fine. But I don't see how it has anything to do with faith to not believe in a god. Everybody was an atheist when they were born. Nobody was born and believed in a deity. They were most likely taught by their parents or church or maybe a friend or whatever/whomever you could think. Atheists don't have a place of worship because there's nothing to really worship. There's no belief system. There's no giant book that atheists all agree on. There aren't any rituals. There's no giant leap of faith because there's nothing to have faith in. Faith is a giant part of religion, to believe without any evidence. In atheism, what's there to even believe to have a faith in? There's nothing.

To me, atheism is more of a philosophical standpoint like pragmatism, idealism, nihilism, and existentialism. I don't think atheism is a way of living. I guess you could categorize it with secularism because I rarely do anything than "secular" things whatever that is. Yeah, I don't understand why news media categorize things as "secular" and "religious". I just don't see a point in labeling it. Maybe it's just because of my generation.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't like the first definition of atheism in the dictionary. It says "the doctrine or belief that there is no God". To me, I don't a see doctrine, and I don't see a belief. For one thing, if a deity did appear and somehow persuade me in some rational way that he/she/whatever is a real deity, sure I'll believe in him/her/it/them. I don't change my beliefs because I didn't have any to begin with. My beginning was like a baby, not believing in any form of deity.

I don't even know why I'm typing up a long post. I rarely post anything on religion anymore. Atheism is not a big deal to me. I rarely think about it.

Evil Candybag - September 15, 2007 04:59 PM (GMT)
Buddhists can be considered atheists as they don't believe in a deity.

Uhm, EXCUSE YOU! My grandma is strictly Christian, I always hated going to church. Any type of event. It's because my mom always told me I can belive whatever I want to belive.

And my grandma is still not geting it. I am Atheist. She continues to drag me to church. Sure I go. And I keep the fact I'm Atheist to myself. But I respect the people in there. If they drag thereselves out of there house for an hour just to praise "God" Then I have respect.

The fact that some of my friends are Atheist is because They don't get it. And it's the fact that they hate spending time with there folks.

I know what I'm talking about. e_e; So don't conterdict me. Besides. This is an OPINION topic.

Religion
Politicts
Homosexuality

Are the three things you don't wanna talk about at a message board. Why? Because it leads to flaming.

I have nothing to say about this anymore. I've said my part.

Don't quote me in this topic. Anymore. e_e

I actually used to be Wiccan. For about three years. I stopped only because it was too much work. >_< And when I told people. They would ask me if I would believe in "God" or the "Devil" There is no Devil in the craft; nor a God.

Syarith - September 23, 2007 04:45 PM (GMT)
I'm sort of Christian, but not really a devoted christian. Though I had a dream that almost convinced me to become Atheist...but thats another story. I don't really think i'm a part of any religion, really. I mean I was born and raised a Christian but then things started happening to change my religious views, and I dont really know..so I guess I'm officially a Christian, since "once a christian always a christian" , but considering i dont really devote myself to any particular religion. so I dont really know what religion i am.

You're not born into a religion. You're raised into a religion.

I was "once a Christian." Then I became an atheist because I think Christianity is false. And if I believe Christianity is false, then I can't possibly be "always a Christian."

AdLifePAcc - September 23, 2007 10:01 PM (GMT)
Christian lyk no other.

Akane - September 28, 2007 09:24 PM (GMT)
I'm Agnostic.
mkay?
mkay.

Edit :
I wasn't always Agnostic.
I was raised as a Christian,
but when I later learned of the religion
I didn't like it at all.
Atheist or Agnostic?
I'd rather go based on 'without knowledge.'

duoinchains - September 29, 2007 07:35 AM (GMT)
Atheist.

I was brought up protestant (CofE), but started questioning the whole 'God' concept in my mid-teens and decided that there are no Gods.

And I have a real problem with organised religions - the vast majority of which are just human constructs, so are prone to human prejudices, often from centuries ago. Why should we, in the 21st Century, live our lives according to warped and flawed dogma more appropriate to a thousand or two thousand years ago and which no one is allowed to challenge or change??

sparklynshiney - September 29, 2007 07:56 PM (GMT)
